New TV Africa to effect change in society – Dr Dzanie

By Kenneth O. ADADE, Accra
President of Groupe Ideal, Dr Nii Kotei Dzanie has stated that the rebranded television station, TV Africa, would effect positive change in the Ghanaian society.

He said it is their aim to go beyond the shores of Ghana and become a global news hub that would be the voice of the voiceless.
The president made these statements during the re-launch of the new TV Africa programmes and content at the station’s studio in Accra yesterday.
About two years ago, Groupe Ideal acquired a majority share in the TV station and rolled out a big rebranding campaign to reposition the station in the competitive TV market.
TV Africa, which was known to be broadcasting in the local languages, would now broadcast mainly in English language, with limited broadcast in local languages (80% English, 20% local).
This, according to the new management, would introduce a refreshing style of broadcasting to meet international standards as they are now on both DSTV and GoTV channels 362 and 175 respectively.
General manager of TV Africa, Ekow Blankson said the vision of the station to project African values was given an added twist following the acquisition of majority shareholding by Groupe Ideal to align with its mission to create a world-class group of companies led by Ghana’s most talented professionals.
He said the new look was also to position the TV Africa brand and give it a competitive edge in the TV market ahead of the planned roll-out of the nationwide Digital Terrestrial Transmission (DTT) later in the year.
He added that the rebranding has also seen an expansion of their analogue transmission capacity from 2,000 kilowatts to 10,000 kilowatts in the Greater Accra Region and from 1,000 kilowatts to 5,000 kilowatts in the Ashanti Region.
The new TV Africa would have programmes like Breakfast Live, G-Zone, Temperature, Bumper to Bumper, Video Ryd, Pae Mu Ka, Odo Confession, News Hour, and Sports World.
These programmes would be handled by presenters including Nikki Samonas, Obuobia Darko, Chris Attoh, Kofi Laing, Khadijat, Jocelyn Dumas, Baby G, Larry Boziles, Classy Judy, Aysha, Patrice Amegashie, Sangmorkie.
Blankson mentioned that their viewers were their most cherished asset and it is their desire to give them the best of television experience.
