Gyan to leave China?

Gyan to leave China?

By Herbert BOAKYE YIADOM
THE Finder understands that Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is likely to leave China following the expiration of his three-year contract with Chinese Super League side Shanghai SPIG.

It is understood that neither club nor player is willing to extend the deal. Gyan, who has had an amazing career, will be the first to admit his big money move to the Chinese League hasn’t really worked out.
Asamoah Gyan earned $12 million per year for three years when he moved from Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates to join Shanghai SIPG.
Gyan has struggled with injuries since his move to China, forcing the Chinese club to loan him out to Dubai side Al-Ahli.
Gyan’s position at Shanghai SIPG has been taken over by Brazil superstar, Hulk, who was brought in as replacement for the Ghana captain due to his persistent injuries.
Shanghai SIPG are determined to remove Gyan from their wage bill and thus have no plans of renewing his contract.
Gyan is considered one of the highest paid players in the world and was, at some point, earning in excess of $300,000 a week.
Gyan in a recent interview expressed his frustration at the recurring injuries, he said, “Injuries have worried me over the past two years and it really hurts me a lot. My injuries started when the China move came. I was not able to show my potential in the Chinese league due to these injuries”.
“The people knew what I could do if it wasn’t for my injuries. I hope the following years to come God will see me through this situation”.
Gyan could only bag seven goals in 20 games for the Chinese side before being loaned out to Al Ahli.
A host of clubs are chasing the Ghanaian superstar for his signature. Turkish side Bursaspor are the first club to officially make an offer of €30,000 a week which is a massive slash on what he currently earns.
