Old administration will account for $20,000 - George Lamptey

By Herbert BOAKYE YIADOM, Accra
THE acting President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, George Lamptey, says he will ensure that the old administration accounts for the $20,000 which the federation took from the government for its activities last year.

The Black Bombers failed to secure sponsorship for the upcoming qualifiers from the Ministry of Youth and Sports because of its failure to account for $20,000 which the Federation took from the Sports Ministry in 2016.
“The Sports Ministry knows about the demise of Gideon Quartey, our former chairman. We have written letters to the Minister for all these issues to be solved.
“If they haven’t accounted for the money for more than a year, it is the Sports Ministry that has to write to the National Sports Authority and query Ghana Boxing Federation but as I speak, I haven’t received any letter”.
“I am going to take into account all the money that haven’t been accounted for and will personally ensure that we audit the general secretary and some of the executives who took that money.
“Since we took over the administration, the treasurer doesn’t even know the amount of money the ministry gave to the Ghana Boxing Federation,” George Lamptey revealed.
