Cycling club supports women cyclists

THE National Capital Velo Club (NCVC), a cycling club-based in the United States of America (USA), has donated riding kits to the Women's National Cycling Team.

The presentation ceremony took place at the conference room of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) last week.
Over 20 jerseys and a set of boots were presented on behalf of the US based club by David Stealy of Velo Stars cycling club in Accra.
The kits were received on behalf of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) by the Secretary-General, Dennis Kweku Moore, supported by GOC officials Theophilus Edzi, Deputy Treasurer of the GOC, and Christine Ashley also a staff of the GOC.
Mr Edzi commended David Stealy and his team and also admonished the female National cycling team to take advantage of this gesture to impresswhenever they go out to compete.
In a related development, IQRA Limited, a leading bicycle shop in Accra, also donated a bicycle to the female team.
The National Capital Velo Club is a vibrant cycling unit in the US and one of the members of the Women's Squad is three-time U.S. National Champion by name Mary Breed.
By this gesture, the NCVC believes it will inspire our local riders to aspire for greatness in future engagements.
