About 25 officials were trained and certified with international certificates with resource person from Africa Armwrestling Federation, Youssef Nasr who is AAF’s Technical Director.
Mr Nassar, who was overwhelmed with the level of development of the sport in Ghana, commended GAF for their vigorous promotion and development of the sport.
He said Ghana has potentials of taking over the continent if the needed support and assistance is given to them.
GAF President, Mr Charles Osei Asibey, was elated with the response from members of the Federation and congratulated the recipients, urging them to make use of the knowledge acquired.
He bemoaned the neglect of government’s support for other sports and called on corporate Ghana to come on board and invest in the sport.
Mr Osei Asibey said the coaches and referees who have been trained will enhance steady nationwide development and competition quality.
The personnel were drawn from the Security Services, gyms and Tertiary Institutions.
The Course Director also took the National Armwrestling team – Gold Arms through competition rules, battle techniques and power drills as the team is currently preparing for the 2017 African Championships in Nigeria.
