G8 tourney: Asante Kotoko, Medeama eye semi-final spot

By Herbert BOAKYE YIADOM, Accra
Asante Kotoko and Medeama will be hoping to secure a place in the last four in the ongoing Ghana League Club Association of Ghana (GHALCA) G8 tournament, which continues today at the various venues.

Kotoko defeated Techiman Eleven Wonders by a lone goal in Group A’s opener at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Asante Kotoko are preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup, and a slip in the G8 tournament will send wrong signals to its fans ahead of their Africa club campaign, which begins next month.
They will be faced by a technically good side headed by Karim Zito, who has stated emphatically that he is not gunning for the G8 title but wants to improve his side.
In the other group game, Accra Hearts of Oak will take on Medeama at the Cape Coast Stadium in this crucial encounter. Both teams won their opening games, and a win for one of these sides in today’s encounter will see them qualify to the last four.
Aduana Stars will take on Eleven Wonders tomorrow at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the second game of Group A whilst Ebusua Dwarfs take on Karela United at the Cape Coast Stadium.
