Nana Akufo-Addo, French Ambassador grace exclusive ‘Good France’ dinner

AS a part of the worldwide celebration of French Gastronomy, 12 restaurants from Ghana participated in this year’s ‘Good France’ dinner to make Ghanaians familiarise with the French food.
In Ghana, the participating restaurants came not only from Accra but also from Kumasi, Peduase, Takoradi, Akosombo and Axim.
All the restaurants were from different backgrounds, but with an open outlook to create a convivial atmosphere of complementarities for the event.

This event gave an opportunity to Ghanaian gourmets to enjoy French food and wine here in Ghana, where there is an increased interest in French cuisine.
To conclude the week, a prestigious dinner was held by Ambassador of France to Ghana, Francois Pujolas, and his spouse, Revati Pujolas, at their residence in Accra on last Friday.
This dinner was prepared by the three-starred Michelin Chef Jean-Luc L’Hourre, who presented an exquisite menu, bringing together France and Ghana, with local ingredients or locally-available ingredients.
Around 80 VIP guests from the political, economic and cultural worlds enjoyed these delicacies in the presence of the President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Lady Rebecca.
During the dinner, the Ambassador affirmed: “French gastronomy is not only a matter of culture or pleasure but also fully part of economic development of one’s country, including training, education as well as job creation.’’
Earlier, the French Ambassador along with Catherine Afeku, the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, had organised a joint meeting with all concerned actors of the hospitality and catering industry to understand the current trends and needs of the sector, and to explore avenues of cooperation in training and education.
Support by French actors in developing the tourism sector in Ghana was also discussed.
This meeting was followed by a workshop during which the Chef Jean-Luc L’Hourre shared his knowledge and experience while preparing his dishes with professional chefs from Ghana.
